Phony $25 charge showing up on credit card statements
02:15 PM MDT on Thursday, October 20, 2005
You may want to double check the charges on your recent credit card
bills.
People across the country are discovering unauthorized charges for $25
from a business called "Digital Age Cyprus."
The FTC says identity thieves work on the idea that the bogus charge is
small enough that card holders will pay it without even noticing.
The crime is often referred to as "spam charge."
If you think you're a victim of the fraud contact your credit card
company immediately.
