BOISE -- Shoppers lined up early to be some of the first in line at Nordstrom Rack.
Boise's newest outlet store opened earlier this morning to large crowds.
It has been busy since 6 a.m. Right before the doors opened at 9 a.m. the line to get inside the store went all the way past Old Navy and wrapped around the back of the buildings. And when the doors opened, people were ready to shop.
The fashionistas, the deal hunters and the loyal Nordstrom customers were all spotted racing through the Rack.
"I get to go shopping, yay!" exclaimed Cynthia Klegg.
"Nice jeans, shoes, everything, everything," said Shon Renee.
"Ever since I've lived here, for about 20 years, I've wanted there to be a Nordstroms," said Marleen Stowe.
More than 1,300 shoppers filled the store.
"I'm a little surprised," said General Manager Tony Young.
The store's general manager may have been a little surprised, but the employees were ready.
“The caliber of folks that we hired, great work ethic," said Young.
Nordstrom Rack hired 70 employees and it's hoping some of them will become store leaders. They have five manager spots to fill.
“We are going to be able to promote and have people join our Nordstrom family in leadership roles," said Young.
The store may be giving the local economy a boost, but the shoppers seem more excited about the fashion.
“I love the selection here, there is a little bit of everything here. So exciting!" said a shopper.
"I'm looking at some really good quality shirts for very good prices, so how could you go wrong with that," said Scott Jones.
"I think it's great, I love the prices and I'll come back," said Dorthy Raganit.
And Nordstroms Rack doesn't plan to be a short lived trend in Idaho.
"Are you kidding me?" said Young. "I think the community is going to keep us here. We are here to stay, we are not going anywhere."
Nordstroms is not the only store that's moving in to the Boise Towne Plaza. Ulta is opening right next door. A mall spokeswoman says a third store plans to move into this strip of stores. She couldn't reveal what store was coming, but said it will be an exciting addition.
One lucky Nordstrom Rack customer won a $2,000 shopping spree in a raffle.
Kristen Gardner of Eagle was let into the store right before it opened. She had a minute and a half to fill her shopping cart. She and her friend grabbed purses, shoes, dresses, anything they could get their hands on.
Kristen told us her plan was simple take off her flip flops and get going.
"Just to run, just to get as much as we could as fast as we could. No strategy my heart was racing I was so excited," she said.
