BOISE — The state's unemployment rate has dropped below 8 percent for the first time in more than two years.
Idaho employers hired more than 13,500 workers last month, when the jobless rate dropped from 8 percent to 7.9 percent. The state's labor force held 779,100 workers in March, which marked the eighth straight month that the employment numbers have risen.
The state Department of Labor detailed the numbers Friday.
The agency says 600 workers moved off unemployment payrolls last month, shrinking Idaho's jobless pool below 62,000 for the first time in more than two years.
