BOISE -- The maximum homeowner's exemption for next year's property taxes will be smaller.
The Idaho State Tax Commission announced the exemption will decrease to $81,000, based on a small decrease in housing prices.
Because the law exempts up to 50 percent of a home's value, people with homes valued at less than $162,000 won't see a change.
The maximum exemption for this year is nearly $84,000.
The exemption applies to a homeowner's primary dwelling and up to one acre of land.
