Ground broken on 2018 St. Jude Dream Home

The home is being built in a Meridian subdivision.

MERIDIAN - On Wednesday morning, sponsors and supporters of the 2018 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony for the house that will be auctioned off next year.

Along with ceremonial groundbreaking, Berkeley Building Company celebrated with a breakfast to kickoff next year's campaign.

Joe Atalla, owner of Berkeley Building Company, says he is excited to kick off the 2018 campaign.

“How can we not be involved,” said Atalla with a smile. “For us to be able to do something so simple that we do on a daily basis, to be able to give back so much, it’s just a great opportunity for us.”

The home will be built in Meridian’s Bridgetower West subdivision.

Tickets to enter and win the brand new house will be available next spring and the giveaway will be in June.

Donations raised through this campaign will help Boise surpass the $10 million mark raised in the past 13 years.

Builders will be starting work on the home soon, they hope to have the house done in April.
