Boise Rescue Mission serving Thanksgiving banquets

Boise Rescue Mission Ministries served Thanksgiving meals on Saturday in Nampa. Another banquet will take place Wednesday in Boise.

A Thanksgiving feast comes a little early for more than 3,000 people, thanks to the Boise Rescue Mission.

College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa hosted Mission banquets on Saturday. College of Idaho athletes helped serve the meals.

A banquet is also scheduled for Wednesday in Boise, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Cathedral of the Rockies. The Boise State Broncos football team will lend a hand at that event.

“We’re wanting to help people in need, and you talk to folks around the room today, you’ll find there’s a lot of great stories – sad stories – of need,” said Rev. Bill Roscoe, CEO of the Boise Rescue Mission. “We’re just thrilled that we can help meet some of that need.”

Roscoe estimates that the Mission will serve more than 2,000 meals and hand out 1,500 to 1,600 turkeys and take-home food boxes at the Thanksgiving banquets.
