11/20/2008 11:46 AM MST
NAMPA -- Electricity is back on in Nampa after a power outage blacked out parts of downtown, Northwest Nazarene University and thousands of residential customers.
Idaho Power spokesman Russ Jones says around 8,000 customers were affected by the outage, which lasted a little more than one hour.
The call came in at 9:20 a.m. that power was out to a wide portion of Nampa.
Jones says a squirrel got into a power substation at Dakota and Chestnut, triggering the outage.
Crews had power restored by 10:28 a.m.
The squirrel did not survive.
