This shepard mix was found bound with duct tape and apparently beaten along a road near Greenleaf Thursday morning.

CANYON COUNTY – Canyon County authorities are investigating an egregious case of animal abuse.

Canyon County Sheriff’s deputies and local animal control officers were alerted this morning by employees at a farm near Greenleaf found a dog bound with duct tape that appeared to have been beaten.

The dog’s front and back legs were bound together and its head had also been wrapped with tape.

A large amount of blood was found near the neck and head of the dog.

The dog appears to be a shepard mix, around nine to a year old. It was found off the roadway near a hops field close to the intersection of VanSlyke and Middle roads.

The dog was still alive when it was discovered, but later had to be euthanized because of its injuries.

Cruelty to animals is a misdemeanor under Idaho law.

Authorities say they do not have any suspects at this time, nor have they identified the dog's owner. The investigation continues.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office at 454-7531.
