Fire crews were able to knock down the flames but not before it burned a truck and car.
PARMA -- Fire crews in Parma had their hands full this afternoon, after a grass fire ignited nearby vehicles.
It happened at a private residence in the tiny community of Roswell.
Somehow a fire sparked in the lawn at the back of the property and quickly approached several parked cars, trailers and deisel trucks.
Because it threatened to spread to all of the vehicles, Parma called for additional support from Notus, Wilder, Nyssa and Caldwell.
"It ended up pretty good. We made some tactical decisions to get the cars out first because of the exposure to about seven more vehicles and nine more trailers, so we attacked those first. We called for help up front, which definitely gave us the advantage going into it. So the trucks were coming faster than they normally would," said Parma Fire Chief James Cook.
The homeowner thinks the fire was deliberately set by someone, but fire officials have not been able to determine the cause.
