BOISE - Boise shoppers should have a nice new present just in time for Christmas: a North Face retail store.

Baum Realty Group tells NewsChannel 7 it has signed a deal for the store to open in Boise’s historic Mode Building at the corner of 8 th and Idaho.  The store will be large in size – more than 8600 square feet, and take up a two story storefront.

"We really had been in negation with them for a long time,” Jennifer Schellinger with Baum Realty said. “We envisioned them as the ideal tenant for the Mode Building."

The North Face only has 21 stores nationwide – so adding Boise is seen as a big coup for Baum.

"Coming to Boise and choosing that location solidifies Boise's reputation as a retail destination,” Schellinger said.

The new Boise store will feature a full line of products, including footwear and apparel, and is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year. The North Face specializes in technology-influenced outdoor gear, and is well known for its fleece jackets and other items.

The new North Face location will be remodeled to meet LEED guidelines for environmental sustainability. Boise will be the first LEED-certified store in the North Face chain.

Baum Realty owns a group of buildings known as Block 44 – which is bordered by 8th and 9th and Idaho and Bannock Streets.  The North Face joins a new Antrhopologie store just down the street, as well as a mix of local retailers including Grape Escape and others.

A string of new national retailers have recently added Boise locations - including Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 and others.

The Mode building is named for its original tenant - one of downtown Boise's largest department stores. The Mode closed in the 1980s. The building was redeveloped to feature multiple tenants, including retailers and clothing outlets.
