BOISE -- Two Idaho-based companies announced they are expanding.

BioMark, a fish and wildlife research company, will be moving into the old Shaver Warehouse on 8th Street in downtown Boise.

"This business could be located anywhere, but choosing Boise, the quality of life, the education of the employment force, those things are a great benefit to our company," said Dean Park, president of BioMark.

Park said the move will double the size of their old headquarters and set the stage for future employment growth.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter said there is a momentum of economic activity.

"We have a lot of people calling to either bring business to Boise or expand here. I don't know that there's ever been a time in the time that I've been mayor that we've been as busy with potential business expansions and locations," said Bieter.

Meanwhile in Meridian, PKG announced it is moving its corporate headquarters to Pine Avenue. The company makes keypads, keyboards and control panels for the medical, avionics and industrial markets.

"For a variety of reasons, the quality of life, the family centric environment that we live in, the outdoor lifestyle that we all enjoy, but also we're in the core which is Meridian's health care integration technology business corridor," said Bill Canon, COO of PKG.

PKG expanded its workforce this last year by 50 percent and they expect to add just as many jobs over the next year.

Bieter says the groundbreaking of Whole Foods and the Eighth and Main Project are other examples of positive economic growth in the area.
