BOISE -- Les Bois Park capped their grand opening week with nearly 8,000 people on hand to witness both the Kentucky Derby and live horse racing.
Derby fans wagered $127,309 while the live races garnered $96,357 in bets.
A spokesperson for Les Bois said that many racing fans came out in support of Rousing Sermon, a Parma horse competing in the Kentucky Derby. Rousing Sermon's owners are Larry and Marianne Williams. Williams is co-owner of Treasure Valley Racing, which operates Les Bois. Rousing Sermon finished 8th in the Derby.
The 36-day live horse racing season at Les Bois continues next Wednesday and Saturday with post times at 5:30 p.m. General admission is $5.
