POCATELLO -- Heinz says it plans to lay off around 16 percent of its employees next month at the company's plant in eastern Idaho.
The Idaho State Journal reports 80 full-time workers will lose their jobs at the Pocatello plant as a result of changing production needs in the company's frozen goods department. Heinz officials say a plan to phase out T.G.I Friday's frozen meals is the main reason for the cuts.
The company says it will continue employing over 400 people to produce frozen entrees and snack items.
Heinz says employees are aware of the impending cuts but individuals set to lose their jobs haven't been notified. The layoffs will go into effect on March 4.
