BOISE -- If your business has been contacted by a company selling advertising on Boise State football schedules, be sure to check it out before signing. The call might be a scam.

The Better Business Bureau says a company named Spirit Publications has contacted Treasure Valley businesses offering the spots on the fall football schedule for $270 but is not licensed to produce Boise State merchandise.

The owner of a small engine company in Garden City called the BBB saying she tried to call the company after getting billed on her credit card, but she got a phone-sex line instead.

If you're solicited to buy ad space, the BBB advises you can research the soliciting company at snake-river.bbb.org. Deal with companies that have good track records. Get any advertising contract in writing, and make sure you understand it before you sign.
