BOISE -- You could call it competition mixed with creative young minds. That's what a program named B | Launched is describing as the perfect formula for startup success in Boise.
The annual competition is sponsored by the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, and is focused on job creation through the Boise Young Professional organization. The latest competition began in September and concluded Wednesday evening.
For 2013, group of mentors help four teams of young professionals develop a viable company to compete for two possible funding slots.
Investors supplied about $45,000 in total funding.
Two new companies emerged from the program's final selection process Wednesday night. Both have plans to plant roots and do business in Boise.
The two winning teams include:
- BeFree Village, which will provide resources and products to help travelers with special dietary needs and food allergies
- CraySay, a mobile software solution that connects people with brands through savings
The next B | Launched competition starts in January of 2014.
