ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — Foreign governments are starting to help their expatriates succeed in America so they can invest with greater impact back home.

Colombian officials say an informational fair they are holding this week at the consulate in New York will feature services aimed at immigrants, including how to find U.S. scholarship money and New York City government programs.

Colombia isn't the only nation with a large immigrant population in the U.S. that has been constantly reinventing the ways it interacts with its citizens abroad.

Mexico and India have established similar efforts. And governments from Poland to El Salvador have been studying ways to better serve and entice investment from citizens living outside the homeland.

The fair is Saturday and Sunday at the Colombian consulate in New York City.
