Boise family safe after roof ignites

MERIDIAN -- Everyone inside a Boise home was able to get out safely after their roof caught fire late Sunday night.

The fire was reported at about 11 p.m. on Heritage Avenue, off of Cloverdale Road.

Large flames were visible from a distance, fully engulfing the roof. Six fire engines and crews from Meridian Fire and Ada County responded.

The house is severely damaged, but no one was hurt.

Investigators say they have ruled out lightning as the cause of the fire. The cause may be electrical, but it is too early to say for sure.
