BOISE -- A series of storms that swept across southern Idaho has ignited a series of wildfires stretching from Boise to Buhl.
Officials say fire crews are dealing with nine new fires on the Boise National Forest, all sparked by lightning strikes from a storm that passed through Monday and early Tuesday.
Each of the new starts are less than two acres in size and scattered throughout the Lowman area.
Officials with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management report five blazes, all in various stages and sizes.
The biggest is the 528-acre Horse Hill Fire, burning in a remote section of the Jarbidge desert.
BLM spokesman Sky Buffat says crews expect to have the fire contained later Tuesday.
