IDAHO COUNTY -- Idaho County sheriff's deputies made a very difficult rescue this weekend.
On Saturday, they learned that a 52-year-old woman from Spokane had fallen from a mule, hit her head and possibly fractured her hip.
She is was in an area northeast of Lowell - in an extremely steep and rugged area.
Since she couldn't be reached by ATVs, and the sheriff's office had to wait until morning to rescue her.
At 7 a.m. Sunday they went in with a helicopter and hiked to her location. They then had to cut a landing zone for the helicopter to get closer to the woman.
It took them until 3 p.m. to get her out and on the way to the hospital.
