BOISE COUNTY -- A new wildfire burning in Boise County is growing quickly and has the potential to threaten homes.
The Placer Fire is burning about four to six miles south of Idaho City and has charred about 100 acres. There is a small subdivision of about 15 homes in that area.
Fire crews are hitting this blaze hard, with two helicopters, three tankers, three Forest Service engines, a hand crew and members of the Idaho City Volunteer Fire Department.
At this point there have been no evacuations or road closures.
The fire is burning in the Thorn Creek area off Highway 21 on state land. Officials say there a quite a few cabins in the area.
