BOISE -- Two Idaho universities have won a total of $2.8 million for research and education related to the nuclear industry.
The Department of Energy today announced that the University of Idaho will receive $1.7 million for research aimed at developing new reactor designs, and $820,000 for a project aimed at enhancing models to predict the structural and chemical response of used fuel and waste during interim storage and permanent disposal.
The department is also awarding a $155,000 graduate fellowship to one University of Idaho student and one Idaho State University student, and a $5,000 scholarship to an ISU undergraduate.
