TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- The Park and Recreation Board has approved a contingency plan that includes closing Thousand Springs State Park in southern Idaho and the Yankee Fork State Park in central Idaho if more state budget cuts are issued next month.

The board oversees the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.

Department Communications Director Jennifer Wernex tells The Times-News that the board approved the contingency plan about two weeks ago.

She says board members wanted to make sure the agency is prepared if Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter issues more budget holdbacks.
