Truck driver dies on I-84
BAKER CITY, Ore. -- Oregon State Police say a California truck driver died Tuesday from an apparent heart attack while driving along Interstate 84 near Baker City.
Sgt. Ty Duby says that just before 11 a.m., OSP troopers and the Baker City Fire Department responded to a commercial truck and semi-trailer driving off the westbound lanes of I-84 near mile post 307. A doctor was at the crash scene performing CPR on the driver, 49-year-old Douglas Caeton, from Colfax, Calif. when emergency crews arrived.
Caeton was taken by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City, where he later died.
Police say Caeton was westbound when his truck drifted off the right shoulder and came to rest about 50 feet from the traffic lanes.
The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted police at the scene.
