KUNA - A 22-month old toddler is dead after a truck backed over him in the driveway of his home Tuesday afternoon.

It happened in the 600 block of Red Oak Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

Ada County Sherriff's Office spokesperson Andrea Dearden says a family member was backing his three-quarter ton pickup truck out of the driveway of his house when the toddler ran behind the truck.

Sheriff's deputies performed CPR on the toddler until paramedics arrived.  The child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Ada County will continue to investigate but Dearden says it is unlikely there will be any criminal charges filed.

She says this appears to be nothing more than a horrific accident. She says it serves as a reminder to all drivers to take a few extra moments to make sure children are safely away from a moving vehicle.
