BOISE -- Two Idaho midwives had their licenses revoked by industry regulators and were fined more than $14,000 after three babies under the care of their birthing center in Meridian died.

In March, The Baby Place's owner, Coleen Goodwin, and her daughter, Jerusha Goodwin, had their midwife licenses suspended by Idaho regulators.

On Monday, the Idaho State Board of Midwifery ruled that the Goodwins conduct was unprofessional and in violation of the laws, rules and standards governing midwifery in Idaho.

The Goodwins didn't return phone calls seeking comment.

Separately, midwife Sherryl Lynn Riener of Cottonwood was fined $500 and put on probation after investigators alleged, among other things, she provided services to a Spanish-speaking woman without a translator and failed to accompany the woman to the hospital after the birth developed complications.
