BOISE - The cauldron used for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games has a new, permanent home.
Those coming and going from the Boise Airport will see the symbolic structure standing tall outside.
Special Olympics athletes and supporters gathered at noon Monday day for a dedication ceremony.
The cauldron was created in Garden City at the Woman of Steel Studio.
A few changes had to be made to the sculpture before it could be put on display in its new home.
"To mimic the the idea of gas flames, I fabricated some stainless steel flames and then we are putting in LED lights to reflect against that." said Irene Deely, who made the cauldron.
You might remember, during the World Winter Games, glass globes lined the legs of the cauldron. Those were replaced with steel balls.
The cauldron is now located on the west end of the airport terminal.
