BOISE -- Mother Nature is doing its part to help Idaho ski resorts get open in time for the holidays.
At Brundage Mountain Resort near McCall, spokeswoman April Russell say they got four inches of fresh powder at the base Friday morning, and more snow is falling on the summit.
She says weather forecasters had predicted rain below 7,000 feet, but it turned out to be snow instead. That leaves them optimistic about the weekend.
Right now, Brundage has 8 inches of fresh snow at the base and about a foot-and-a-half on the upper parts of the mountain.
If the resort gets enough snow out of this latest storm, Brundage could open next weekend - Friday, December 7 through Sunday, December 9. They would reopen and stay open seven days a week starting on Friday, December 14.
Russell says they hope to have a clearer picture about opening dates by Monday.
