BOISE -- A rare snow day put smiles on the faces of dozens of Treasure Valley kids who journeyed to the Boise foothills armed with sleds and snow saucers.
Here, a legion of loitering lugers descended upon Simplot Hill, the controversial home of the Idaho governor's mansion.
Crowds of snow-sliders also gathered at nearby Camel's Back Park just above Boise's historic north end.
And while many area streets were snow-choked and empty, the hillsides here were alive with the shouts and laughter of kids.
Of course, there's no cost to slide down these slippery runways -- and kids and adults have been doing so for years.
