IDAHO FALLS -- A former eastern Idaho sheriff's office employee has been sentenced to five years' probation and 30 days in jail for stealing money from her employer.
The Post Register reports 44-year-old Sandra Biorn was sentenced Monday in 7th District Court.
The Madison County Sheriff's office began investigating in July after a monthly audit showed money was missing. Prosecutors say the two-year employee stole $3,500 by manipulating computer files to make it look as if the funds were still there. She pleaded guilty to grand theft, misuse of public funds and computer crimes in November.
Judge Greg Moeller gave Biorn a withheld judgment, which means she can ask the court to dismiss the case if she successfully completes probation.
