BOISE -- The State Tax Commission took it on the chin, with senators describing it as the country's worst tax collection agency.
Friday's vote to give it another $200,000 squeaked through on the narrowest margins, 18-16.
But not even measure's sponsor, Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll of Grangeville, supported it.
The bashing began with Sen. Monty Pearce of New Plymouth, who said a friend told him at least the federal Internal Revenue Service treats taxpayers humanely.
Democratic Sen. Les Bock of Boise, a former tax lawyer, added he'd much rather work with the IRS.
Sen. Jim Rice of Caldwell said his uncle, a former Utah tax commissioner, told him Idaho's agency is known as "the very worst tax commission to work with in the entire country."
Messages left with the agency weren't immediately returned.
