KETCHUM, Idaho -- Mountain Rides Transportation Authority in the resort area of central Idaho says ridership on the public transit system in and around Ketchum remains high and that routes are being expanded. But officials say requests to allow dogs on the bus have been rejected, unless they are service dogs or animals in small carriers. Mountain Rides Executive Director Jason Miller says ridership through November was 330,248. He says that's on pace to be close to last year's ridership of just under 400,000. Miller says high gas prices caused ridership to jump in 2008 and that ridership has remained high as people developed the habit of riding the buses or vans. The latest expansion of the bus service route is into Hulen Meadows north of Ketchum.
