BOISE -- A former Boise Police officer faces five counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16.

The former officer retired six days ago on Feb. 28.

Friday afternoon, Stephen Young, 58, of Eagle, was arrested following an interview with Ada County Sheriff's detectives.

The five felony charges represent five different victims over the last five years.

Investigators said the victims were all infants at the time Young had alleged sexual contact with them.

They also said Young knows the victims, but they did not live in his home.

Detectives also said the crimes happened at several different homes in Ada County.

Up until his retirement earlier this week, Young worked for the Boise Police Department for over 30 years. His most recent assignment was as a patrol officer for five years.

Before that he served as a school resource officer for 10 years. We're told one of those schools was Boise High School.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing and both the Boise Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff's Office are involved.

Based on the information available, BPD said there is no reason to believe that any of these crimes occurred while Young was on duty or assignment with the department.

As this investigation continues, Andrea Dearden with the Ada County Sheriff's Office said additional charges are possible as they work to determine if there are any additional victims.

Young was arraigned Monday afternoon in Ada County.  Our crew was in the courtroom and will have details on the Evening News.
