LEWISTON, Idaho -- Leaders in Lewiston in northern Idaho have approved a plan to build a replica of Idaho's first territorial Capitol Building in time for next year's 150th anniversary of Idaho becoming a territory.
The Lewiston Tribune reports that Lewiston city councilors on Monday agreed to a plan to build the structure that will temporarily sit in a grassy area near Lewiston City Hall.
The Idaho Territory formed March 4, 1863, under an Act of Congress.
Garry Bush is president of the First Territorial Capitol of Idaho Revitalization Project. He says the replica will be built on a metal frame this summer so it can be moved when a permanent location is found.
