EMMETT -- Crews are now repairing an irrigation canal leak that led to a mudslide in Emmett earlier this year.
Restrictions have been in place on Idaho Highway 52 since early June when the canal leak damaged a hillside next to the highway.
Crews began repair work Monday morning. It's expected to be complete by November 15.
The Idaho Transportation Department is contributing up to $65,000 to help the Emmett Irrigation District cover the cost of the repairs.
The work was scheduled to start three weeks ago, but ITD says the federal government shutdown prevented crews with the contractor, GeoStabilization International, from leaving a previous job site.
