BOISE -- Fall is in the air and that means the leaves are on the ground making a mess.
When raking up those leaves, don't forget about "Recycle the Fall."
It is an easy and environmentally friendly way for Boise residents to dispose of leaves and garden trimmings curbside while
conserving valuable landfill space.
Boise residents should have gotten $10 coupons in their mail to purchase compostable paper leaf bags.
The city says you've got to use those because plastic bags will not be collected curbside.
Here's what you need to know:
- "Recycle the Fall" begins November 2 and runs through December 4.
- Leaves and yard trimmings must be in large paper leaf bags.
- The bags should be set out on your regular trash day, but keep them separate from your trash can.
- Leaves cannot be placed in blue recycling carts.
- Garden plants, small-diameter shrub trimmings and small amounts of grass will also be accepted.
Residents are urged to use this program and not sweep leaves into the street, as that can create a flooding hazard.
