BOISE -- Local police say they've made a big arrest, but they also have some big damage bills.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office and Boise and Garden City Police each had one car damaged when police stopped a man suspected of robbing two banks Thursday afternoon.

One robbery happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Mountain West Bank branch at Glenwood and State streets in Garden City.  The other happened Tuesday at the Home Federal Bank branch on ParkCenter Boulevard.

Joshua Johnson, 33,  appeared in court today on charges of robbery, aggravated battery on law enforcement and eluding police.

"Tthe defendant has admitted to law enforcement that he has robbed two banks, as well as the Marriott Hotel, all within the last eight days during a meth-fueled, sleep-deprived crime spree," said the Ada County prosecuting attorney.

The judge took note of Johnson's violent criminal history and set bond at $2 million.
