BOISE -- Boise Police have recovered a car stolen outside a local convenience store last month.
Thursday afternoon, a BSU officer on patrol in the area of Vista Avenue and Kootenai Street observed a car that matched the description and license plate of the stolen car and conducted a traffic stop.
Upon further investigation, Kaitlyn Johnson, 19, of Boise, was booked into the Ada County Jail on a charge of grand theft.
Police say a man left his car running while he ran into a convience store on S. Vista Avenue around 6 a.m. on Oct. 26. The man told police he left the keys in the car and the vehicle running. When he returned, the car was gone.
Boise Police want to remind the public that as the days turn colder, the temptation to leave a vehicle running and unattended can have unintended consequences. And locking your car is no guarantee that a theft will not occur, but it may help deter a criminal from taking your property.
