CLARK FORK, Idaho— A Spokane police officer was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck after being thrown from his motorcycle in a crash on state highway 200 near Clark Fork.
The Idaho State Police are looking for the driver of the pickup that struck 47-year-old Kurt P. Henson at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say Officer Kurt Henson, 47, was riding his Harley Davidson with Kimberly Lenox, 43, when he struck an abrupt lane edge in a construction zone. The impact threw both Henson and Lenox from the motorcycle.
A driver of a Dodge pickup following behind the motorcycle ran over Henson and the bike. The ISP says the driver of the truck fled the scene, but the truck was later located. Police are still looking for the driver.
Officials pronounced Henson dead and transported him to Coffelt Funeral Home. They said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Medics transported Lenox to Bonner County Hospital for her injuries. The extent of her injuries was not released.
