NAMPA -- One man is dead after his brother mistook him for an intruder and fatally shot him.

It happened around 5:46 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of 2nd Ave. N.

When officers arrived on scene, they determined that a 28-year-old male had received a single fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident occurred when the victim apparently came to the residence, startling his brother awake inside. The brother, 21, who was armed with a handgun, then mistook him for an intruder and shot him.

There were two other adult males inside the residence who were also sleeping at the time of this incident.

At this time there have not been any charges and the names of the people involved are not being released.
