CANYON COUNTY -- KTVB received pictures today of a deadly crash in Melba where a woman drove her car into a sinkhole. The accident happened in the early morning hours on July 17.
Sonia Lopez was driving to work on Butte Road east of South Powerline Road when the accident happened. She was not wearing a seatbelt and died on scene.
Just south of the sinkhole, an officer says he found what appears to be a gopher hole.
They believe running water eroded the soil down to the gopher hole. That caused the asphalt to collapse in the washed out soil.
