MERIDIAN, Idaho -- The Ada County Sheriff's Office says a 35-year-old Oregon man was hit and killed late Monday night while he was apparently walking down the middle of Chinden Boulevard, west of Fox Run Way.

Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg says 35-year old Jeremy Schultz died of blunt force trauma at approximately 11:11 p.m.

ACSO public information officer Andrea Dearden said Schultz was reportedly "walking in the middle of the road," when he was hit by a 43-year-old Caldwell woman driving an SUV.

Dearden says the woman immediately called 911, reported the accident, and told emergency dispatchers she didn't see the victim.

Deputies say a passerby gave Schultz first aid until paramedics arrived.

The Oregon man was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities continue to investigate why Schultz was walking in the middle of the road.

No criminal charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV, and deputies say there is no information to suggest any criminal behavior on her behalf.
