PAYETTE -- Authorities in Payette County have recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Snake River on Saturday.
Payette County officials say they recovered the body of Daniel Bravo-Rodriguez on Monday morning.
The 28-year-old man was last seen swimming about 30 feet out into the river around 6 p.m. near Centennial Park in Payette. Witnesses watched him struggle and go under, according to police.
"Basically that he was swimming with some other people here and they were out about 30 feet and he went under," said Corporal Garry Toth with the Payette Police Department. "And the person he was with tried to grab him but couldn't and that was the last we seen of him."
The Payette Fire Department, Malheur County Search and Rescue, and Payette County Sheriff's Office searched for the man using jet-skis and boats on Saturday and Sunday. His body was eventually recovered about a mile downstream on Monday.
In a related story, deputies with the Malheur County Sheriff's Office are also searching for a person reported missing in the Snake River near Ontario sometime on Sunday.
A 23-year-old man also drowned on Saturday on the Boise River after he apparently became entangled in a rope he was using to boogie board on the river.
