BOISE -- Nearly 1,200 pounds of food was collected Saturday, from the annual Speed to Feed Idaho run

The event is a 10 and 5k run and walk to benefit the Idaho Foodbank. The Boise State Health and Human performance club hosted the event.

Their goal is to get as much food to the foodbank as possible, and KTVB is told this year was bigger than ever.

During the spring months, the foodbank's shelves go empty faster.

"This kind of acts as a stop gap to those summer months where it picks up for the Idaho food bank a little bit more in terms of donations," said Race Director Zachary Pope

The Speed to Feed Idaho Run also raised $110 which equals to around 330 meals for Idaho families.
