JEROME -- Two train vs. vehicle collisions kept emergency responders busy in southern Idaho on Wednesday.
Idaho State Police say 64-year-old Jess Linch was killed when a train struck his Cadillac Escalade at a crossing in Jerome County. Earlier on Wednesday, a driver of a semi tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries when he apparently pulled in front of a train about 20 miles southeast of Boise.
Jerome County Sheriff Doug McFall tells The Times-News the fatal crash happened Wednesday afternoon along U.S. Highway 93 north of Twin Falls. The crash blocked the highway. No information on the victim was immediately released.
Ada County Sheriff's Capt. Scott Johnson says it's likely the semi driver saw a train stopped on the tracks, but didn't realize another train was passing it on a parallel set of tracks.
There was no immediate word if anyone on the trains was injured.
