NAMPA -- Power has been restored to approximately 4,500 customers in Canyon County.

Idaho Power reports the outage affected parts of Nampa and a small area in Caldwell from approximately 4 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Idaho Power spokesperson Stephanie McCurdy said a privately-owned transformer failed and "caused a transmission line to lock out."

OUTAGE CAUSES CANCELATIONS

  • Nampa's Birch Elementary has delayed classes until 9:15 a.m. Friday
  • The College of Western Idaho Nampa Campus Academic Building, Aspen Creek Classroom Building, and Administrative offices are closed Friday until 10 a.m.
