NAMPA -- The Nampa Fire Department lifted a burn ban this morning that has been in effect since June 22.

This will allow those people with burn permits to conduct open burning.

However, folks are still required to make sure the current wind speed is below the allowable speed and they must call the administrative offices of the Nampa Fire Department prior to igniting the fire each day to ensure the air quality index is low enough to permit burning.

Fire officials say lower temperatures and higher humidity are good enough to allow safe burning. Those who are burning are advised to call 911 immediately if your fire gets out of control.

Burn permits are available at the Nampa Fire Administrative offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The offices are located on the 2nd floor of the Hugh Nichols Public Safety Building at 820 2nd Street South in Nampa. They are closed from noon to 1 p.m.
