NAMPA -- Officials in Nampa say the school district's budget deficit is now projected at $4.5 million, up from a $2.8 million shortfall announced in August.

Deputy Superintendent Josh Jensen said Thursday that no employees will be laid off this school year to address the shortfall, but he says drastic changes will have to be made in the district's $68.7 million projected spending for the current fiscal year.

School board chairman Scott Kido says the district could look into selling property to make up the difference.

Superintendent Gary Larsen resigned earlier this week due to the district's budget issues.
