SANDPOINT, Idaho -- A northern Idaho firefighter has filed a $1 million claim against the Sagle Fire District contending the district failed to stop harassment from a supervisor following the end of a romantic relationship.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that Katie Loper filed the claim Wednesday, citing negligence, wrongful termination, defamation and lost wages.
The claim is a precursor to a lawsuit against a government entity.
Loper contends the harassment began after she ended a relationship with a supervisor, and that her complaints to higher-ups failed to lead to a solution.
The claim says a doctor advised Loper not to return to work until a plan for a safe work environment was put in place.
Loper contents that plan amounted to the supervisor being on his best behavior around her.
