EAGLE, Idaho -- Police say a motorcyclist has died after being struck by a pickup near the Shady Acres service station at the intersection of State Street and North Park Road.

Ada County dispatchers received the accident report around 7:24 a.m.

Officers say a male motorcyclist was westbound on State Street and was struck by a man driving eastbound in a Ford pickup. The driver of the truck attempted to turn into the convenience store parking lot and collided with the motorcycle.

Investigators say the motorcyclist, Arthur Zottarelli, 64, of Eagle, was wearing a helmet, but was killed instantly. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

An employee of Shady Acres says she heard a loud crash, and immediately ran out into the street where she found the motorcyclist, and then took his pulse.

Cary Weber says she knew the man was likely dead when she saw him.

"It's not a pretty picture," Weber said. "I can tell you this: it was instant."

The crash closed down State Street in both directions for about an hour on Monday morning.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved and say given complexity of crash, it will likely be several weeks before their investigation is complete.

At this point, no charges have been filed.
