BOISE -- It has been 1,000 days since Bowe Bergdahl, a soldier from Hailey, was captured in Afghanistan. The fight to bring him home continues. In fact, it is now a nationwide fight.
Last month, the Weber family from Wausau, Wisconsin vowed to gather 30,000 signatures by March 26th to gain awareness.
On Monday, KTVB learned that they went above and beyond gathering more than 40,000 signatures. Three thousand of those came from his hometown of Hailey.
The Webers plan to take the signed petitions to the United States Congress, hoping it might start a fire under leaders, who might work to bring Bowe home faster.
Bergdahl was reported missing from his base on June 30th, 2009.
